Social media producer, BBC Ebola WhatsApp service and Facebook page (Dec 2014-Jun 2015)
My role involved broadcasting Ebola prevention methods, health updates and news to people around the world – but most importantly directly to those in the most affected countries; Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. This formed a key part of the BBC World Service’s Peabody Award-winning public information service on the Ebola outbreak. The WhatsApp service also won the Knight Award for Public Service in the 2015 Online Journalism Awards. I also produced a number of Ebola ‘explainer’ videos (see screengrab above too) for the BBC Africa website, and co-managed the BBC Ebola Facebook page.
Web Content Editor/Social Media Manager, Don’t Stop The Music, Channel 4/Fresh One Productions) (May 2014-Jan 2015)
Writing and uploading content and news for the registermyschool.co.uk and dontstopthemusic.co.uk websites, plus copywriting for James Rhodes’s Don’t Stop The Music campaign – to improve music education in UK schools – and the supporting instrument amnesty. I also took and managed over the Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts midway through the project.

Managing the online arm of the Channel 4 series Live from Space, working from London and NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. My role involved writing copy; uploading images and videos using Brightcove; uploading content to the website via MODX; managing website; liaising with the website developers and Channel 4’s YouTube team; and monitoring social media feeds during transmission for viewers’ questions to astronauts.
