In England it's customary to bring your builders copious amounts of tea (and biscuits, if you want to get in their good books). The builders here brought fresh eddo leaf, so I made juice and this chocolate & almond cake. They left promising to "bring two papaw Monday". The Guyanese deep love for sharing cooking and fruit & veg has to be my favourite custom!

In the blender today: banana, saijan (moringa) leaves, coconut water. Hoping it will power me through an ever-growing pile of marking. These local bottles of coconut water are good and really easy to freeze and defrost but I probably should invest in a big reusable container... #saijan #moringa #banana #coconutwater #guyana #guyanaforfood #guyanaforhealth

First taste of Ebesowàna dried watermelon slices 🍉🍉🍉 Purchased for $600 a pack from Beacon Cafe on Carmichael Street in GT. The pieces were stuck together in the packet (maybe in the heat) but peeling them off to taste I was surprised at the deep, delicious flavour - almost like a chewy chocolate or dried figs.
